Vista Del Rio School provides special education programs for young men and women, ages 12-18. Vista Del Rio School is a nonpublic school certified by the California Nonpublic Schools and Agencies Unit. Vista Del Rio School is under contract with the El Monte City School District, El Monte Union High School District, West Covina Unified School District, and Hacienda/La Puente Unified School District.

The ratio for adults who work directly with children is 1 adult for every 4 students. Average class size is 8. All of the Vista Del Rio teachers are credentialed by the State of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

Vista Del Rio School staff is committed to its students and to their success in school as they work hard to overcome academic weaknesses, advance in core subject ability levels, and improve their grades. Where many students have struggled in the past to earn passing grades, our small class size and the individual attention provide students the opportunity to experience the success they need.

Students attend Vista Del Rio School every day and maintain a high attendance record. During the past two months, almost 70% of our students had perfect attendance. No wonder our students do so well – they are in school daily!

In the past six months, our students have progressed admirably toward their academic goals. Because of our proven teaching method and the use of SRA Direct Instruction program, we have had 11 students increase their reading level by one grade, and another nine students increase their reading level by two grades. As a result, many of our students have developed an interest and love for book reading. In fact, many students have stated that they have read their first book ever at Vista Del Rio School.
