Excelsior School provides a special education program for boys and girls from the San Juan, Sacramento City, and Folsom-Cordova Unified School Districts. Excelsior is a nonpublic school certified by the California State Department of Education Nonpublic School and Agency Unit.

The ratio for adults who work directly with students is 1:4. Class sizes average 8 - 12 students.

40% of Excelsior's students carry a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher.

Excelsior takes great pride in the achievements of our students. Behavioral issues, attendance and grades are all emphasized in an effort to allow our students to reach their goals. Extracurricular activities such as Student Council, CIF Athletics, volunteer work, and a monthly newspaper called the "Knightly News" encourage students to pursue their creative interests as well as their academic skills. CIF Athletics include boys basketball, girls basketball, soccer, volleyball, and track and field.

Excelsior has received the "AES Apple Award" signifying it as Advanced Education Services most outstanding school on numerous occasions and the awards are proudly displayed in each classroom and in Excelsior's administrative office.
